The Copper Cache

JULY 2020

The Cookie Cutter Caper has been transformed into:

The Copper Cache.

July 24:

PTHC Member Vaughan D. found the Copper Cache (and a WWII nickel and 4 Wheaties). He found them under a big tree near the tennis courts along 50th Street, at Woodland Park at Seattle.

PTHC member, Scott J., notified me that he found the cookie cutter at Sportsman's Park at Sultan, WA. For finding the cookie cutter, Scott will receive an award at the next club meeting, after which it will be his turn to hide it and provide clues to its whereabouts to club members. Scott opted to create a new token for the club (see below; coins displayed to show token size).

He's hidden the token and provided some clues.

Clue 1

Somewhere on this map [below] from 1909 is the challenge token you seek, and where you will find.

Hidden between two caches of WWII nickels and Copper wheat, to the finder goes the prize of a silver Thaler and a copper that’s neat!

Clue 2

Half way to 99, looking toward the North Star, you can find Venus playing on your left, trying to win her way out of love.

Clue 3

Take me out to the ball game,
but stay away from the crowds.
Buy me a Deluxe 5 blocks south,
bring it back in a small white sack.
Dig, dig, dig for the token,
be sure to search higher ground.
Look for one, two, three separate spots
where the prizes can be found!

Copper Cache Prizes

Scott has offered these prizes to [oinly] the PTHC club member who finds the cache:

  • A silver Thaler

  • A 1oz. copper round

A non-member of the Pilchuck Treasure Hunting Club who finds the token is asked to kindly return it to PTHC. There is no reward except knowing you've found it and returned it to the proper owners. The prizes listed are for this current iteration of the competition. Subsequent iterations will have different prizes.
